
Mikel Durel Browne studied art in his hometown of Whanganui, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelors of Fine Art. He has traveled extensively around New Zealand and has recently returned from the UK and Europe. Mikel has spent much of the last 10 years in Auckland creating and exhibiting regularly. He draws his inspiration from natural surroundings, and the man made. He currently works with themes that relate to ecological or social issues and New Zealand history.
Mikel is a multidisciplined artist who paints, photographs and sculpts. Within his sculptures he uses found materials such as wood, stone, clay and steel. His paintings are mainly landscapes created in oils and photographs using digital and traditional means.
