From the Mountain to the Sea

Mount Ruapehu andesite, totara and stainless steel.

1900mm wide X 4100mm high

This sculpture and 3 others by Daniel Clifford, Paul Dibble and Matt Pine were choosen to be made and shown for the Inaugural Wanganui District Council Sculpture Event 2010 currently showing on the riverbanks of the Whanganui River.

This sculpture was made in partnership with Max Cody, Kerry McDonnell and myself.

This sculpture represents the mountain the river and water travel. The shape of the 2 standing stones are the mountain the gap between is the river. This pays respect to the history of occupation and use of the Whanganui River.

Demonstration At Eastern Artscape

Well back in Auckland for a week or 2 exhibiting sculptures at EasternArtscape, Uxbridge Arts Center Howick. I did a carving demo onSaturday for 5 hours and managed to create a 2meter high figure out ofmacrocarpa. This Tuesday the 23 Feb I will be doing the same.

I grin a bear the time left here

with UK winter drawing near

As I wait for the morning train

with teeth chattering I board

of to the morning destination

I zone off into the poetic chattering

of the wheels or the whine

or hiss of the double-decker bus

Of to class I go

to babysit teenages

All is not lost as the 10 months here

had been an excilarating experience

From the top of the Eiffel

to the ruins of Rome

Has open my eyes and

inspired my direction

Soon I will be home

Art I have Seen

While traveling around Europe and UK I had visited many art galleries. From the Picaso Museum in Paris to the Picaso Museum in Barcelona. The one in Paris was the most exciting and showed much of my favorite Picasso pieces. Barcelona show alot of his earlier artwork. Recently I had another visit to London to see the work of sculptor Anish Kapoor. Which out of the most favorite contemporary sculptors he would be on the top of the list. The above link takes you to a environmental blog I began in September 2007.
The blog was created to get local governing bodies to wake up a realize how much
rubbish is in the and around Motions Creek, which the runs along the property I rent.
With much success I must say. The Auckland City Council, myself and and
band of locals had the first of many clean ups on the 2nd March 2008.
